About Boyo

Njinikom is located in the administrative Division of Boyo, 60 km North-East of Bamenda, the Regional capital of the North West Region in Cameroon. This community is one of the four sub-divisions of the Boyo Division. The other three are Belo, Fundong and Bum sub-divisions. The Njinikom people belong to the Kom ethnic group, the largest of three ethnic groups which make up the division. The other two ethnic groups are the Bum and the Mbororos.

According to the 1996 Local Council population census-which of course, is the latest population studies carried out in this community, the population of Njinikom stood at 33.000 at that time. Following this figure as well as partial results from present birth rates registered by various local clinics and health centres within the Njinikom community the current population of Njinikom can be estimated at 35.000 or more.

11 FEB. Games run Njinikom Crazy

Although one does not understand how the Plebiscite Day of 11th Feb.1961 became a Youth Day, one Komrade, Mathew Tum Young, of Berlin Germany, has made it a duty to take 11 Feb back to its original Anglophone typical celebrations of the yester-years.
In the last couple of years, the usual excitement that was inherent in the 11 Feb activities has been raised a Francophone epitaph.
